Designed by J. H. Dearle in 1895 for Compton Hall in Wolverhampton, Compton is one of the most intricate patterns produced by Morris & Co.
Characterised by stylised foliage and rhythmic symmetry, the design was originally printed using two sets of woodblocks to achieve its complex layering of 28 colours.
In the Summer Yellow colourway, warm golden tones are brought forward, creating a brighter, more uplifting interpretation while retaining the depth and structure of the original design.
